The McPherson Recreation Commission hired PLI to design and install a new irrigation system for the baseball field, three softball fields and the common areas at Wall Park.
The original irrigation system for Wall Park was over 20 years old. After years of trying to patch, repair and troubleshoot the system, the MRC had given up. The fields were not watering properly, the grass was dying, and the fields were rough and becoming dangerous. In 2016, Prairie Landworks Inc. designed a new system using quality Hunter Irrigation products. The system utilizes a booster pump and large radius rotor heads to efficiently water each ballfield and modern two-wire irrigation control technology which simplifies troubleshooting and maintenance in the future. It also includes flow sensing technology to prevent the waste of water in the event of a line break. All in all, the PLI crew installed about five miles of piping for this new system, allowing the MRC maintenance staff to get the fields back into top shape.
