PLI creates a functional and beautiful drainage channel using segmental block retaining walls.
The City of McPherson chose PLI’s bid proposal to improve the drainage channel near Hartup Street and the Union Pacific Railroad in McPherson. The project consisted of cleaning out approximately 500 lineal feet of overgrown and silted drainage channel, widening the channel and installing retaining walls to eliminate steep slopes and improve future maintenance.
PLI excavated and removed about 2,000 cubic yards of soils, installed over 3,000 retaining wall blocks weighing 75 pounds each, and restored the site with seed and erosion control matting for long-term stability. The result is a great improvement in flow and drainage at the trouble spot in town, and it will also provide ease of maintenance in the future.
